Hopefully Dan Mo and us, Dan, Florida. We'll see. Um, so I want to talk about topic today. Oh, finally, next, next final thing. If you're hiring manager, I want you to help me fulfill my goal this year that I set live on.
I want to close five new clients this year because of this live thing. So if you are in hiring and you see this, um, either now or in the future and you're like, hey, Taylor, I like Taylor and he doesn't seem to suck at his job. Let me know. I would love to, uh, to place people on your team. So just DM me. It can be tech. It can be anything. Uh, here, Vayka, we do everything. Um, it's just my goal to close five new deals this year over this LinkedIn live. So make my dream come true. Please. Thank you. Um, so I want to go and dive right into it now.
I probably lost all the viewers because I'm just rambling. Um, I want to talk about how not to be weird over DM's. And so one of the biggest issues that I have or not issues, one of the biggest things I see is people being weird on DMing people to network. Right. Literally, I got a message today. This morning on Twitter goes, hi. How are you? Right. And, and I think I, I really, really, we got to work on this a little bit. We got to work on this. Um, because I, I think there's an art to DMing people. So, uh, while you are, um, uh, watching, I want you to throw up, um, some of the, the weirdest messages that you can remember getting.
Um, and then I also want, if you have a tipper trick that you would recommend on people to, to DM or to network over the the DM's, please throw it in the chat or at me. So I can throw it up on the screen and allow it to be discoverable for others. Um, because I think again, the whole point of reason why I do this live thing is the foster community, um, and to, and to share, to share all of our secrets. Right. So the first thing is I want to talk to you about DMing is a simple how to do it. What to say.
My biggest thing is I would always at like comment about something they've either done recently or that, um, that you've admired about them. Right. I think flatter is the biggest form of, of networking. Right. Um, you know, with Danny, Danny Thompson, while I know him, right. Like I shot him a DM the other day and I was like, hey, man, your video stuff looks great. Tell me what you use. Right. If I didn't know Danny, I'm pretty sure. I'm pretty sure Danny would message me back. Even if he didn't know me and say, hey, listen, my video set up is this. Thanks for thanks for watching.
Right. I think it's, it's noticing what people do, admiring what people do and using one piece of information as a way to connect yourself to that person. And I think it's incredibly important. I think again, the whole thing is it's like, hi, how are you? I'm kind of going through my DMs right now. Um, you know, uh, there's, there's a lot of high. What's up? Like there's just that that's not enough for me to engage. I don't have time to engage with you. It's just a hey, hello. What's up? Right. So again, the biggest thing I'd recommend. And again, if you have, if anybody has any tips or tricks, please comment, um, on how you do it.
But my big thing is noticing what that person does. Right. fall that person for a bit before you DM them and then when you DM them either use flatter flattery, flattery or, uh, basically comment on something that they do. Um, I think those are the two biggest things, um, on how to not be weird, uh, in the DMs because it's very, very important to not be weird. Um, so, uh, aside from that, I, for me, I think right now in today's market, you have to be DMing people right now. Everyone's on LinkedIn. I have had so many requests on LinkedIn are not requests, but so many individuals change their job status on LinkedIn.
Like there's people congratulating people on new jobs. Like everybody's on LinkedIn right now. I think though I, I want to see LinkedIn's usage as like a software in January versus like the rest of the year because I think, um, as so many people are on LinkedIn right now more than ever. And you got to take advantage of that. Right. If somebody that you admire that's been at your network for a bit, God, new job updating LinkedIn comment, like that person status, right? We've talked about it. And then shoot them at DM. Hey, that's awesome. You landed there. I'm so excited. How did you find that job?
That's an easy way. How did you find that job? And then you start that conversation there. Um, so Jake, Jake from Raleigh smart Jake, because there's another Jake at make a smart Jake, yeah, I agree interacting with the comments before reaching out personally makes a first DM user. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, again, I, I, I really, really think the way to cultivate a relationship right now is the long game, right? Commenting like he like there's a lot of people that, that are on this live show right now, this live feed that I have never met in person. Right? I've never met Scott Fields in person.
I've never met Julio, Malina in person. I've never met Kathy in person. I've never met Kyle Torres in person, but I know them because they comment they like, right? And if, if any of those people DM me, who they shot me attacks on my community number last night, like I'll respond because you're always involved. You're always present. That's why it's so important to like and comment and engage with people before you shoot them at DM. Right? Gary V, Gary Vaynerchuk, big fan of him. I'm sure most of you will probably have heard of them. You know, jab, jab, jab, right hook, right? And really what he said when he says jab, jab, jab, it's, it's continued to give continued to give continued to give continued to give continued to comment to continue to comment and then finally ask for something.
Right? So comment, like, comment, like comment, like comment, like DM asked for something. Right? That's what your cadence needs to be over the next 30 to 45 days from a networking perspective. If you're actively looking for a job, comment, like, comment, like, comment, like DM. And I think that cadence I think will help you a ton. If you catching up on a few comments here, Jake, I probably have a few hundred Twitter friends that I've met via interacting three to time today. Yeah. I mean, listen, that's just so crazy about Twitter. Like, there are people within my network that I have always wanted to meet, I've always wanted to be friends with and I've become friends with over Twitter.
It is the craziest thing. One of my best guy friends is in California and he and I are best friends because he and I started, it's weird sounding. He and I started liking each other stuff on Instagram and that we'd DM each other and then he came and hung out with me my wife for a week and now we're now our best bros. And he's in California and he's awesome. And then he's Brian Gail. Yes, who are all the people on LinkedIn? Kathy, a link to the social support of people are generally trying to help each other. Yeah, exactly. That's what I'm saying. Like, DM me, as long as you're not weird, you have a chance to get a reaction.
Like, it's not that hard. Just don't go to the hay route. Don't go to the hay what's up. You know, don't do that stuff. Just don't do it. Brandon Gordon, what's up, man? It's good. It's good to hear from you. It's been a bit. Recruiters should never open with, I'm different. Yes. Recruiters have a problem with this. Usually, I always say if you have to say you're different or you're better or you're not like the others, then you're probably like the others. And so I agree with that 100% Paul. But also hear them out because here knows, maybe they are different. I think, you know, Brandon R.A.
said it best earlier. I came across your profile. We want to talk about how I can 20,000 extra sales. Yeah, I mean, that's very much of a thing. Right? I get the DMs on my LinkedIn are ridiculous when it comes to this stuff. There's so many DMs of like, hey, I can help you. There's a chat bot for recruiting. There's, you know, all this stuff. Like, it just, it is, it is excessive. If you are watching this right now or in the future and you are doing that, stop it. I literally messaged one guy who sent me the same message five times in a row and says, do you really think this is going to work?
And he finally said, no, I can do better. And then he still tried to sell me. Like he then, so just sales is broken. Be cool. Be chill. Right? I tell all the time I team to my team. Be cool. Be chill. Just be yourself. There's no need to like to say I want a 2000 extra pro father's no need for that. Just be cool. Just be cool. Sweet. All right. We are at 15 minutes. Thank you again for tuning in to guys council 2.0. Again, I just want to make this quick, a little boost to start your day. Go into 2021 and don't be weird.
That needs to be your goal. Don't be weird in 2021. Thank you all for tuning in.
