what up what up what up good morning everybody uh Happy Tuesday um this is the last guidance counselor 2.0 for a week um so tomorrow I had to react to Miami um to be down with those folks down there um and then um I fly back Saturday and then Sunday morning I'm back on an airplane and going to Omaha for connect aha um and uh I'm actually speaking out there I'm not speaking at react Miami you know because there's some conferences that only want technical talks but that's fine um no I totally understand uh but I'm excited to hang out I know Gabe and Michelle
um in g2i who's putting it on and it's just such a great event so I'll be there but I'm really excited to have Brayden on the show um Braden and I met at that conference in Austin um and so uh really stoked Brayden thanks for coming on man I appreciate it yeah man I'm super excited to be here I'm glad we finally got it yeah it worked out greater than I had to reschedule like well first off Brayden had a stomach bug and then I had the stomach bug and then and then um uh and then I had some stuff pop up so we've reschedule
this three or four times so Brayden thanks for being thanks for being so chill about it um but uh but again please comment I know we get started a little bit early uh Braden's gotta stand up right at 10 Central so we want to get started a little early so we got some good conversations so please comment the reason why I tell people to comment again it's just is is to be engaged to say hey right like like there are so many people all right I'm gonna give shout outs to everybody tune in Michelle Mark Shayna John I'm gonna be honest with you I'm gonna
call you Lambert because I just I don't know if I could let me know how to pronounce your name Lambert because I you tune in a lot and I want to give that to you but I just I think I butchered that um Matt Anthony Sean again so all these people consistently tune in right and they consistently say hey and and and and I know their names like that's just th e way this that's just the way this works like I know your name because you consistently say hey and so I want to encourage everybody to keep doing it especially if you watch this I
have people that watch this like two or three days later that so comment please do that because there's a lot of people that come through and and comment and engage and and so that's what this is this is a networking platform please engage with people please have conversations please slide into their DMS afterwards because I want I want to be have this as like a virtual Meetup where you can like do it in your pjs at your house right so um also too ask questions right um so um I I bring amazing guests on the show like Brayden on the show who has a wealth
of knowledge um and they don't bill you for their time right so uh ask questions Leverage The Leverage the live format the Q a format um because uh asking questions is so much fun um and then finally I want to give a shout out to my coffee sponsor which is that conference which is where Brad and I met so uh Clark Clark found out I'm a coffee fiend because I am and uh he has his own set of beans um and I would highly recommend buying it um they're really good I'm drinking I think sassy syntax right now is one of the Blends uh but
it's really good um and I'm also speaking I'm actually keynoting um one of the Keynotes in July so I'm really excited about that so check out that conference I want to give a shout to a few more people who tuned in let's see here Brandon speaking of Austin hello from ATX happy Tuesday I love I I I love Austin so much I got to make it down there again Tia Eugene it's great to see you Anthony from Houston uh also from Austin LinkedIn user we got a few awesome people too I love it Eugene Network I've missed y'all I've been in class during this time
Shannon no excuses no excuses I'm just kidding Erica great to see you Brian my guy as always and then Michael it's great to see you all right cool then definitely run my m outh let's go and get started so Braden if you want to give the give the people what they want who are you what do you do then we'll go from there yeah awesome so it's so cool to see everybody tuning in hello my name's Braden uh first I'm a husband I have a wonderful wife uh second I'm a father I've got a little two-year-old girl and another little girl actually coming the next
four or five weeks so super exciting and then third uh I'm also a senior front-end developer at a company called logic gate based in Chicago though I'm working remotely here in the Texas area so super cool to see everybody from Texas kind of show up yeah that's awesome that's awesome um yeah we were talking about it um we both have girls um and uh they're both literally they're a month apart from each other um and then Brandon's having his second kid here in a few weeks my brother's having his first in a few weeks and then I um my wife and I are talking about
our second one so I'm very very excited um about that love being dads love working from home I'm curious right I I let's let's talk about being a dad real quick and working from home I mean you know how how do you balance it um you know we're getting into a little parenting talk here I didn't expect it but also too like there not many dudes like just chop it up and talk about being dads right so I want to take the moment um what are your thoughts about being a dad at home um obviously you had your kid during the pandemic like I did
just kind of share just share some thoughts yeah yeah that's a great question and I love that we're bringing it up because I think I don't I don't see a lot of content around it and it's so awesome being a dad especially to a little girl uh working from home I have the blessing of of working from home and working remotely full-time which is awesome uh I'm a big fan of being social and working from the office I love that and it definitely took some time to adjust to being remote um but I'll tell you what there' s nothing like being at home to be
able to see those like developmental Milestones of your kid like I would have been here for my kids first step nothing the first word or anything right and so like you know what every day I get to see something new and I just Journal that I log that and I can look back a year from now two years from now and kind of say you know what how uh how awesome is it that I get to to be from home my wife is awesome she's a trooper she's a stay-at-home mom and so I have the opportunity to to work upstairs right now and uh and
go down and help everyone I love it yeah that's awesome yeah Shayna comes in I heard pandemic kids are different I'll tell you what my daughter is different she's wild but here's what's crazy my my daughter's super social um which is crazy because the pandemic I know each kid's different um but I you know again I I do go with Brayden I mean it's been such a blessing to be at home and to help out um let me ask you is how do you time block right because because I think you know I think it means difficult right I mean I've been there right I
mean I think I think I had to reschedule with you yesterday because I had dad Duty and I was like there's no way I can like Focus just on your interview so like how how do you time block ooh that's a tough question I think you just kind of take it day by day um you can plan for what you can plan for but sometimes you just have to you know have everybody understand that family comes first and so again I work for like an outcomes first company they're super awesome and understanding that hey sometimes I've got to step away for a bit to go
to go help with something yeah um we don't have a ton of meetings which is great for me as a developer so you can kind of be heads down so I have that opportunity to do that so again just super blessed to have all these things kind of line up to work with my lifestyle right now that's awesome and and I do want to talk you know again I want to see your th oughts because I know there's a lot of hybrid coming back into the office I mean you know like I don't know about you but you know I'm so ingrained at home now
and just being able to help out um you know I don't know about Austin but it's impossible to find a babysitter in in Nashville you know so like my wife and I are tackling it pretty much alone we also have her mother that comes down she's her mother's actually here right now which is why I'm able to do this right now um so you know I I just you know again companies I would just be aware right I mean I think there's a lot of dads I I think the work I think work from home I think has changed a lot of trajectory of dads
right because like we're not in the office anymore we're very Hands-On um you know to be totally transparent I didn't I didn't expect to be this Hands-On as a dad yeah um to be just be totally honest I thought I'd do the whole nine to five come home put my kid to bed and barely see them and and my wife and I have talked about it and holy cow like want all the things I would have missed but then also two how much I'm involved now like I can't even imagine putting all of that on her does that make sense yeah I was gonna say
you wouldn't change it right like yeah I didn't expect I mean it's something you probably couldn't even imagine doing differently yeah absolutely absolutely um uh that's awesome I want to give to to um let's see here girl Dad here Mark I love it my daughter just turned three in March I love that so much see and that's what's so cool right again I think I think the you know this is a whole another conversation but I feel like the trajectory of a lot of dads Because of the work from home um is we're just much more involved which I think is what it needs to
happen it's hard but it needs to happen and and I think it gives us that blessing which is awesome um Michelle comes in as a mom with a kid with type 1 diabetes work perform allows me to be close to some medical situations I love that I love that a ton um RJ it's good to see you Ricardo um uh Scott we got the we got the crew um when I'm in the office I'm only 17 minutes away um that's that's still really really good um let's see here for me the pandemic child care has hit a huge in Detroit 24-hour care is rare now
he's gonna work yeah I mean again right I mean it's kind of it's shifted the whole trajectory of everything which has been kind of an interesting Trend um all right so I do want to get into um obviously uh the 800 submissions right the title of this show navigating 800 submissions to jobs um Sam from Brooklyn is great so you again see I know Sam's from Brooklyn because he shows up he constantly engages right that's how it works um so when did you go through the job was it going to logic gate where you went through 800 applications yeah no uh this was when I
had entered the web dev area this is when you entered web dev okay even better even better yeah yeah so I've been programming for over 10 years but I was originally a mobile developer doing games and stuff for like IOS and Android so I was doing that for years and then transitioned to web dev it was at that point where I kind of did that transition where I was trying to find that that first web dev job and that's kind of where I spent over a little bit over a year and about 800 maybe a little bit more submissions which is crazy right so I
think I wrote down some stats so like 800 applications over 12 months out of those 800 I got 20 callbacks and from those 20 I only got five or six interviews and then only one offer extended um so it's not even like you know I hear a lot of people talking about you know they're interviewing and interviewing and interviewing it's kind of weird it's like I submitted those those resumes and I only did five or six interviews which almost seems you know weird right but so I'm I'm gonna challenge you here a little bit right yes you kind of know my kid you follow me
on Twitter so I I know you know go ing back and doing it all over again would you do the same thing which do things differently um that's such a tough question I don't know like I feel like I mean it's always hard to get your foot in the door yeah but I was it I mean even after watching your content right I've been following you for probably almost close to two years now we only met in January and congrats by the way for I think you're keynoting that yeah dude congrats that's awesome um and but I was like I was crafting my resume for
these submissions I was spending you know eight hours a day you know job seeking so it's kind of hard to know like what would I change um I don't know I don't think I have okay let me let me have some more poignant question would you still submit 800 applications or would you go the network would you do a little bit different networking strategy yeah I definitely I would probably go networking a little bit more I did a few that's kind of what I was getting to right now yeah I did a few meetups um you know around that that time 2017 or so um
but I feel like I should have leaned into that a little bit more because honestly every single opportunity that's come my way after that first job has been networking and I know you know that right we all we we tend to say that a lot everything is is networking every opportunity uh is connected to something so that's what I I should have done yeah so um I I want to get so I I for those of you who ask questions um Anthony and Lambert um I'm gonna get to your questions here in a second um just just please know I see them so we're we're
talking about networking right and and I think people again I I'm the reason I talk about networking so much I'm just try to break down these beers because it's not this Boogeyman type situation it's literally just you know you and I think chatted I think main maybe for six minutes at that conference like in total right maybe seven minutes but like The Vibes here and it's great what what advice would you give to people I mean with your skill set from a senior all the way to Junior um on how to network and maybe we could talk about conferences because this conference season right now
and things are really kicking up so you know how would you navigate meetups and conferences yeah I I would talk to everybody that you can and sometimes you know networking I think can kind of be scary for some people because they're like oh man you gotta have all these conversations and it's gonna be they almost treat it like an interview like a technical interview right they're like dude I had somebody come up to me the other day or maybe I don't know all these conversations run together but basically they were like I'm trying to like create an elevator pitch a basically a script for 30
minutes to network with somebody yeah 30 minutes I said I said I don't want to talk to anybody for 30 minutes like just talk to me for like 90 seconds two minutes three minutes it's that's fine that's it yeah I love that exactly right so like it's just a conversation it can just be a hello introduce yourself and then I would say just kind of somehow figure out a way to get across what you're passionate about yeah and that'll leave a lasting impression and you know what have genuine conversations and talk to everybody that you can do you what is your um what's your connection
strategy right do you use LinkedIn do you use Twitter talk to me about kind of your thoughts on leveraging social media I would I would say I primarily use Twitter uh I've used LinkedIn but I think I'm more active on Twitter just naturally day to day um what is my connection strategy yeah but and you know what I love to get people's websites too everybody at a conference has a website so I love to say hey here's my website go check it out here's their website I'm gonna go check it out and some people even have uh like I have a community wall on my
site where anybody can go in and leave a note how cool oh really and so some other peop le have that too right you can go and and say hey I saw you at that conference just wanted to say hi right all those like little things that you can do people remember so I love that I don't know if this is LinkedIn easier I use daddy cards at events I don't know if that's a typo I don't know what a daddy card is uh I would think maybe a business card but a daddy card sounds great name title focus and email on the front QR
to yeah I guess he's saying um business cards name title focus and email in front QR LinkedIn my back yeah I think I think that's great I think I think that's incredibly important um uh you know I try to connect with everybody um I I said this yesterday I was listening to an interview with Gary vaynerchuk and he was speaking to his um uh intern class like college kids or one of the college kids were like do you what's your biggest piece of advice for us he goes he he said this and it made me giggle I was smiling in the car because it's literally
what I say he literally said connect with every person on every social media platform that you feasibly can find commonality and then develop relationships around that commonality right so right because because you're big on Tailwind right yeah yeah LinkedIn right I just checked out real quick right so like so but but again right see how Brandon reacted though Brandon reacted he smiled he laughed right I'm sure Brandon if I knew about tailwind and I asked you a few questions I'm sure you'd probably geek out right oh I'd love to talk about it yeah yeah just say what you're passionate about right like for me like
if Brandon comes up goes do where you get your shirts from and be like I'll tell you I'll tell you where I get all my shirts from right again it's not hard but you just got to find a commonality um also I I love Daddy cards um a few more comments coming in Andy it's great to see you good friend true Network and also more women in the workplace are changing the way we all work respect each other rais ing little ones as yeah um as a teamer on your own 100 yeah I think I think the workplace is changing I think uh I think
the last two years has has changed at a time um but I love that yeah absolutely uh let's see I'm gonna go to the questions here up here um uh we got Anthony first Brandon is a senior developer what advice can you give Junior developers to stand out in the current market I get this question I think every single day yeah that's awesome um you know everybody's everybody's doing a lot of the same you know personal projects and so if you can come up with something that aligns with your passion That's Unique that'll be great but again I think most of it's networking I know
Taylor says it all the time too but like I feel a lot of people are very hesitant to go talk to people because they don't have that experience but it really makes an impact when somebody more senior or a recruiter sees you walking around with no experience connecting with people because that's what they're looking for they want to see people who are going to take that initiative to learn to talk to people and grow yep I love that I love that um there's another question from Lambert again I I'd really want to know how to pronounce your first name um Braden good day what really
makes someone be a good senior front-end engineers at years of experience is diving deep into reactor view or responsiveness it's a good question I'm sure this is there's gonna be a lot of answers to this but yeah okay yeah so I'll try and I'll try and reply that so we'll make somebody a good senior front end engineer um I like to think of a front-end engineer as as like somebody who well a senior who isn't super tied to any framework because every job is going to have a different framework because you're doing a job before say what you're doing Java I saw on your LinkedIn
like yeah yeah so I was like you know and so we were doing some some Java and spring Boot and also some angular I'm working angular daily righ t now but um you know don't be tied to a specific framework uh in in my eyes a senior engineer is somebody who will be placed in any situation and be able to get the solution or find the answer to the problem and they may not know what that answer is but they may know somebody who does right so senior is super consistent can be dropped anywhere and can get that solution I think you know it's fascinating
I've talked about this a little bit but I mean I've been recruiting long enough now where I feel like a developer because when I was recruiting like net web forms was a thing I was recruiting still on Cold Fusion Mainframe there's a lot of Mainframe still out there but like and I've seen the I've seen the trajectory right when I started recruiting companies wanted a developer that was an inch wide and a mile deep yeah exactly now we're transitioning to the true polyglot Dev where again just like Brayden said like you can touch front end back-end database cloud like like you you should be able
to be dropped in and just go and I think the big thing with seniors is that it's and Brandon correct me from again I'm not a developer but I think it's a critical thinking right I think what I've seen in talking with developers is that there's just a different way of thinking and a lot of that's just experience right and that's fine like I'm better at critical thinking when it comes to Staffing and hiring for teams and I was 10 years ago it just it's just you got to put your button this seat a little bit but I do feel like I think being a
polyglot knowing a lot being a mile wide and an inch deep I think is actually better now just my two cents I agree I agree absolutely although I will say like um so I've touched both right I've kind of gone deep as a senior front engineer now and I've also kind of gone wide as a full stack Dev back-end front-end devops um you know it does seem like the industry is kind of going that way we're they're looking for for people who can do all of it and that's fine but even if you can you got to go deep somewhere you know what I mean
find your passion find your interest and go deep there I'm not telling people to do it over time you know but you gotta you gotta find something that you're super interested in and become that subject matter expert um let's see here um Tia so Tia comes in here goes should we because I'm seeing T at render um should we have some prepped opening line to someone oh I'm not big on the prepping like I just feel it feels inauthentic um but if but but if you do need to kind of rehearse some stuff I'm fine with it Brandon what are your thoughts I was I
was gonna punt it to you but I agree I feel like you got to be genuine you know yeah I feel like if you have something like memorized or prepped then it's gonna kind of come across that way yeah which may not be bad if that's what you have to do you got to do it but um you know I think I Didn't Do It I think I posted this yesterday or tweeted it I said if you're at a conference you are in the one percent of people that want to network right because you have to you have to think about people at conferences know
that they're there for networking if I message you online on LinkedIn you're like you know what today's a bad day kids vomiting I don't feel it I'm not gonna network with you right true story kid vomit terrible uh but if I but if you see me at a conference right react Miami connect a hod next week for me if you see me at one of those conferences I'm ready to talk to you yeah why I paid my ticket I paid my hotel room I am there and I am engaged take advantage of it Tia you could stumble upon every single word and I will tell
you nine out of ten times people are still going to be chill with you people are still going to be kind to you you could stutter your way through it I mean I I grew up with a stuttering problem right and sometimes I still get caught up on things um people people will accept you if like and that's just that's what's so special about a conference Brady any more thoughts on that I love that I love that perspective that everybody's there to connect to network it's because it's true they're there to learn to learn to learn new tech you're also there to learn more about
you and expand their their graph as well so absolutely we got a lot of comments people people showed for juniors if you want if you went to school boot camp take full advantage of the services yeah big on this I'm really big on leveraging the community the alumni of the boot camps right I would actually go to a boot camp more because the alumni than the training don't at me on that but like I I truly think that thoughts on that Braden uh yeah I agree I know that a lot of boot camps have a great support network once you're out and a lot of
that isn't from The Faculty it's from people who've already gone through it right and they've got experience right and they're they've gone through the same thing that you're going through and they've they've got some experience and they want to be able to help you so yeah I've seen it time and time again absolutely um let's see here all right I love this is amazing comment by Matt I want to park on this for a second I remember feeling like it was such a pointless thing to submit an application it wasn't until I started networking that I started feeling a sense of progress in the search
for a career in web development that is I I mean Matt I got goosebumps I get goosebumps one when it's cold it is cold my house right now because I don't run the heat but also too I got goosebumps because this is good Brazen thoughts on this I was gonna say it kind of so succinct and true that it deserves to be on like the back of a book or something you know it's good like this should be framed I'm gonna frame this Matt yeah not really um no I think it's true I think you know and again Braden submitted 800 applications right I mean
I mean he he's he's done the thing right and this is why I want to in terview him right he's had experience he went through the slog Festival in application um but until you start talking to people and start chipping away at the networking game you're gonna feel like you're just kind of waving in the wind a little bit yeah um so again incredibly important there love that Matt so much uh let's see here Brandon comes in you mentioned you've been a Dev for years did you start your Tech Career in another field I do QA for instance and swap later it's it's in the
back of my mind to get some cross training in yeah I love that what's up Brandon um I did kind of start in a different field uh so I've been programming for over 10 years and originally I wasn't in web development I was in Mobile development okay well I did games uh and stuff I worked on some pretty cool games you've probably seen at the top charts you know not to brag or whatever but um and then I transitioned over to web development um so yeah that's kind of been my journey I love it I love it got more comments again I love this y'all
this is crazy uh Christina network with me yeah Christina's great if you haven't had a chance to meet Christina you need to meet Christina uh wow yeah yeah not many people knew how to stutter I had a crazy speech impediment I couldn't pronounce as my L's thr's s's I was in speech therapy until I was in Middle School so there we go uh RJ community community it's all that's it right there Daniel what's up buddy uh instead of practicing the script this is going back to Tia's comment practice by putting yourself in uncomfortable networking situations where the outcomes are not tied to your job search
strike up a conversation with someone at a coffee shop or the neighbor down the street you don't know yet wow love that I'm gonna tell you this a girl sorry I'm clear my throat I'm dying this morning um uh I had a girl try to sell me I think wallpaper not wallpaper sorry like gift wrapping or like candy or something the other day and um or cookies because because they weren't gluten-free we're gluten-free um so I was like hey sorry I I can't buy them but but I looked at her and her dad and I said this is the hardest thing to do like this
kid didn't know who I was this kid was like 12 years old and I looked at her and I said listen I said you're doing great I said this is very very hard and it's very I told she was like on my doorstep look at me like who's this man giving me some like a motivational pep talk I'm just trying to sell you like cookies but it's so true like if you can get and here's the deal I'm an introvert um so actually talking to people like that is tough for me I actually do much better in a tech ecosystem I I feel very at
home with developers and Engineers um but this is also a a great tip as well if you struggle like Tia if you struggle with kind of and you want to get prepped for render and you really want to crush render from a networking perspective I love this start being aware when you go to a coffee shop engage with the Barista right or engage with somebody like on the side of the road if if if if if need be because that that'll start helping you right I don't know if you have any thoughts on that well yeah I mean networking is a skill as well right
it's not something that you just do and forget about just as you're developing your technical skills you need to be developing your your social skills as well and so it's something that has to be worked on the more you do it the better you'll get yeah absolutely um again thank you all for all the questions this is incredible um 100 boot camp is becoming more for the network yeah yeah I mean again like I I'm gonna go out on a limb here I think 60 I make up a lot of a lot of percentages by the way I just thought Rainer if people fact check
me on how my percentage just like if somebody watched all the episodes of all the percentages that I say I probably vary I think 60 of the job search is Network maybe even 75.
the 25 like you got I would say at le ast 25 is technically you got to have the technical skills there to a certain extent um but especially as a junior Dev like after interviewing so many hiring managers on the show They Don't Really they kind of view every Junior Dev is the same technically it's the other stuff it's the other stuff so um Sam comes in hey Braden thanks for the talk like question any Tech Frameworks tools Etc you're excited about right now Sam you took my damn question Sam this is a question I asked at the end of the show this is great
I love it personally excited about the new AI tools personally been using chat gbt as a lot as a Google alternative anything I'm super excited about right now um I'm super excited about Tailwind obviously it's not new uh but I just love it I don't know what that is it's a CSS framework okay um so you can kind of accelerate your your styling with with Tailwinds oh that makes sense that's why me you and Shashi got in that conversation yesterday yeah yeah right yeah uh the AI stuff is really cool but I find it I've gotta like kind of pace myself because I I feel
like I'm getting too reliant on it you know what I mean and it's taking over a lot of like my problem solving and I need to be able to keep that up so super excited about it so finding that balance of like when it's appropriate to use and and identifying maybe where I need to take a step back I love it I love it um Hilliards great see you I love this you don't go to the park with your kids Taylor at the park they're called Mommy cards and mine are daddy cards I love that I love that uh Alex waving um in the wind
and all alone networking makes the whole job process a lot less slowly 100 I love that and I love I love that you all get it um let's see here um in networking being a connector networking pays off a lot faster later in later in the career opinion this is this is my boy Jonathan I'm putting people together gets people to remember you and keep you in mind a lot yeah and and I want like there t here can be many ways to be a networker right um Jonathan does a great job of saying hey so and so should talk to so and so and
then connect and bounce right and so if you just are just feel uncomfortable um start to just make connections in your network and then and then that'll start to that'll start snowball Braden I know if you have any thoughts on that too that's great I think I'll leave it with you yeah yeah cool um I'm in the Discord yeah get getting a Discord um Braden do you have any favorite discourse at your inner slot channels at all if not no words I like to so because my time is so pressed like I I tend to only be maybe a lurker in most of them right
now in the season of life right um Danny Thompson has a really great Discord uh pretty active uh so since that's a local too we kind of have this Dallas uh Discord going on that's a that's a my shout out my recommendation I love that yeah Danny Danny's when he moved to Dallas I was like that texting is going to be good because I I I need to get out there and hang out with him um all right so we're wrapping up here last five minutes um Braden um just always like to leave kind of a minute or two for the guests to kind of
speak on something um that uh that they maybe not have gotten to do you have any other thoughts on the job search or um submitting applications or anything like that that you want to get off your chest before before you leave oh man putting me on the spot um you know I think I think I've I've really kind of got a heart for for those that are trying to get into the workforce right now and this is why I connected with you so well earlier on because I see that you're doing something different I think technical recruiting is like broken for the most part and
it's so hard to get your foot in the door um and and you're trying to change that I love that and so uh you know a lot of it's perseverance you're gonna be you're going to be doing things try not to be dismayed uh you just kind of have to to hope and trust that something is right around the corner you know you're you're one application away from finding that drop that job yeah so you got to keep a conversation yeah one application one conversation could completely change your career exactly it's for real uh I want to get to this real quick do you have
one Mentor many mentors I mean I I think if you really want to nurture a mentor mentee relationship I would just have one personally just one because if you're doing it correctly again like you have to lead the meetings you have to set the agenda you have to follow up so I would I would be careful with that I would probably just do one Braden um have you had a mentor before what are your thoughts on that yeah I've had I've had a few I was very blessed to be in the opportunity where when I did land my first job I was actually working probably
like nine or ten months every day with a front-end architect and so I was just like able to absorb information and really accelerate quickly because of that uh super grateful for him um but yeah you kind of have to like have one or two you don't want to be too diverse there just because you know is it really mentoring if you've if you've got 20 right um but see if you can mentor others too yeah that's another thing about that right you don't have to be at a certain experience level to be mentoring others everybody has something to share and learn so go find that
person that you can teach that's awesome that's awesome all right last question Brandon we'll hop off because then I gotta stand up here in three minutes we had guidance counselors in middle school high school and college but now as adults we don't really have them what would be your biggest piece of biggest piece of career advice um Network more seriously um I don't think I really truly understood the importance of networking until two or three years into my web dev career um huge and and you know I'm so blessed to be where I'm at now um but I wish I had made more connections and
