Hello hello after two months of originally saying I was gonna get better at this and putting on episodes here I am after two months putting out my first episode after saying that so 2018 just want everybody know I'm gonna get better about it I've actually had a few people hit me up and and let me know when I was gonna put out more episodes so If for 2018 I'm gonna get more people involved in a tech community not only here in Nashville with people I worked with in Raleigh and have a little bit more back and forth I get tired of hearing myself talk so I know everyone else does as well for sure and so I definitely am gonna get more people involved moving forward a little bit a little bit more updates I Got some new tech gadgets recently so the I got the iPhone X which is absolutely a fantastic piece of hardware Highly recommend it.
I jumped from the success to the X The bunny ears are the notch or whatever you want to call it really is not as bad as people make it out to be you get used to it pretty quickly and It is it is awesome highly recommend it Another thing to I'm a little late to the punch on this, but I me my wife Mainly my wife installed the nest This week and it is really really cool. You can like set up a bunch of schedules from your phone and it's I don't know It's for somebody that likes to go to bed really cold and then wake up warm and set schedules and stuff It is it is absolutely a dream come true.
So I highly recommend that If you need to reach me again T-Dess and T-D-E-S-S-E-Y and it's the best way to reach me on all social media platforms Snapchat Instagram and Twitter and if you Need to reach me via email that's Taylor at vaco.com again. That's V isn't Victor ACO.com Another thing too if you if you want and if you feel compelled to please rate this podcast I would absolutely love that The more this thing gained some traction the more it can be a tool for other people outside of my direct community and So the main thing I'm gonna talk about real quick is the question I get all the time Should I meet recruiters?
Why do I have to meet recruiters? There's so many of them out there Why can't I just do a phone call and if something happens great if not that's fine? So obviously that's one Arguments But my question to you who's on the job search. Why would you not want to meet the person who maybe? Absolutely responsible for helping you change careers or grow in your career for me is an absolute no Brainer to want to meet with the person who would be responsible for the next step in your career I would partner with one or two recruiters and again I kind of laid this out in my previous podcast of what to look for But I'd pick one or two recruiters and I would go in and meet with them I know a lot of a lot of Developers I know love to get the free coffees and free lunches.
That's fine. I don't blame you But I would first recommend go meet the recruiters in the office if recruiters I want to meet with you. I would not I would not work with them at all and then the reason why I would go into the office is because In our industry it's kind of a one-two punch. So we have the recruiters who find the candidates And they would have the sales people who go out and get the job orders from the clients And so what I would want if I was the candidate to go in meet with the recruiter I'd be working with and meet the team that I could possibly be working with on various opportunities because Ultimately, I would want to know who is representing me at all times One suggestion I would Not necessarily wear a suit and tie to the interview with the recruiter, but I would absolutely look presentable I've had a few candidates roll in here with Jim Schwartz and a staying t-shirt or Torn up jeans and a hoodie and a hat What I would do if you meet with the recruiter I would dress business professional and be very presentable and And so with the next episode that I want to talk about is When you come in and meet with the recruiter what questions do you ask the recruiter?
When they present you with a job a lot of times recruiters can present a job to you and by the time you meet with them You could be behind the eight ball. So I'm gonna give everyone a few questions to ask When you go in and meet with the recruiter to make sure That you know exactly where you're at in the interview process when you get submitted So again, if you need me feel free to shoot an email reach out via social media and I will try to put out an episode again here very soon. Thanks guys
